On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the Los Angeles Dysautonomia Network (LADN) will host its annual Unity in Community fundraiser and celebration from 12:00 to 3:00 pm in Pasadena. The event brings together patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and allies to raise awareness and funds in support of Californians living with dysautonomia — a group of disorders affecting the autonomic nervous system, which controls vital involuntary functions like heart rate, digestion, and blood pressure.

This year’s event arrives at a critical moment for LADN, which saw its membership more than double in 2024 and continues to grow rapidly. “In response to the growth of the LADN community, we are thrilled to have made huge increases in our monthly programming,” said Emily Suñez, co-founder and Outreach Director of LADN.
Over the past year, the grassroots organization has expanded its offerings to include teen and caregiver support groups, a mindful movement class, and an additional adult patient support group. LADN also provided crucial emergency support to members impacted by the LA wildfires earlier this year, distributing $8,500 in direct assistance and supplying air purifiers and essential items.
Founded and operated by individuals living with dysautonomia, LADN currently runs its growing array of programs with just two staff members. “We are incredibly proud of what LADN has accomplished with a staff of two,” said Sally Krueger-Wyman, co-founder and Executive Director. “But we are at a turning point as an organization. To sustain the growth we’ve had and to continue to support this community, we urgently need the resources to expand our team.”
Funds raised during Unity in Community will help LADN maintain and grow its services, with the potential to unlock a $25,000 matching donation from an anonymous supporter. Attendees can expect a vibrant afternoon of family-friendly entertainment, including live music, a magician, tarot readings, face painting, and chair massages. Pasadena’s beloved Pie ‘n Burger will donate 100% of its food truck proceeds to the cause.
A highlight of the afternoon will be a 1:00 pm speaker program featuring CA State Assemblymember John Harabedian, LADN board member and physical therapist Brianne Slusarenko, community members affected by dysautonomia, and LADN’s leadership. Notable guests include actress Mara Wilson and Ms. Wheelchair California Aly Corvin, both serving as LADN ambassadors.
