Labor Day is a time to recognize the contributions of workers because they help keep our communities strong.
By News Desk
As Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis noted, “Today, we honor the workers who keep Los Angeles County moving and make our communities stronger every day.”
The holiday also reminds us that many workplace rights and protections were won by generations of workers who stood together for fair wages, safer workplaces, and the opportunity to build better lives.
Most municipal offices and public services will be closed in observance of the holiday, although emergency services will remain available.
Residents who want to give back can volunteer at a local food pantry, help a neighbor, clean up a park, or support a community organization. For others, Labor Day can be simply an opportunity to rest and recharge.
How ever you observe the holiday, please stay safe. Follow local traffic and water-safety rules, use caution around grills and fireworks, and look out for children, older adults, and neighbors who may need assistance.
Have a safe and restful Labor Day.
