Los Angeles Children’s Choir to perform Spring Concert May 10 & 17 (Photo – LACC)
The GRAMMY-winning Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC) has received a $2.04 million General Operating Support Grant from the Perenchio Foundation, the largest grant in the organization’s history.

The grant will be distributed over three years and will support LACC’s organizational infrastructure, long-term planning and financial stability. The announcement comes as LACC celebrates its 40th Anniversary.
“Los Angeles Children’s Chorus is deeply grateful to receive this extraordinary support from the Perenchio Foundation,” said Susan Miller Kotses, LACC Executive Director. She said the funding will help sustain LACC’s growth and allow the organization to reach even more youth through its choral music education programs.
Perenchio Foundation CEO Stephania Ramirez said the foundation’s investment focuses on the infrastructure that allows arts organizations to remain strong and endure over time.
Founded in 1986 with 50 young singers, LACC now serves more than 500 children ages 6–18 from more than 40 Southern California communities. The chorus has eight choirs and two introductory classes, with more than 30% of members receiving financial aid.

I was pleased – and it was my pleasure – to serve two terms on the LACC B of D. I have a very interesting story for you re a very, very successful alum of LACC, who now has the largest job in the opera world held by any woman — if a story hasn’t been done about her LACC ties yet. Her name is Khori Dastoor — and following her own singing career — and a brief sojourn as executive director w/0pera San Jose, she was tapped to go to Houston Grand Opera where she is doing and accomplishing astonishing things as the Executive Director and she may hold other positions, as well!! She is incomparable!!
