Daily hospitalization numbers continue to steadily decline in Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has confirmed 10 new deaths and 1,030 new cases of COVID-19. Daily hospitalization numbers continued to steadily decline from the over 2,000 COVID-19 patients hospitalized daily in mid-July to an average of 1,100 patients hospitalized daily this past week.
There are 1,089 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized – the lowest since the beginning of May. 32% of these people are confirmed cases in the ICU.
Of the 10 new deaths reported today (excluding Long Beach and Pasadena):
- Two were over the age of 80 years old.
- Three were between the ages of 65 and 79 years old.
- One person was between the ages of 50 and 64 years old.
Outdoor recreation
The combination of hot weather and a desire for outdoor recreation is driving thousands of people to L.A. County beaches and recreational areas. Any crowded space, even if it’s outdoors, are places where COVID-19 can spread. It is recommended to enjoy the beautiful recreational spaces with people in your household. Because of the threat of COVID-19 spread, gatherings are not allowed unless specified by Health Officer Orders. This means parties of any type are not allowed anywhere, including at the beach or parks.
