L.A. County Opens Recovery Center for Residents Affected by Lineage Warehouse Fire

L.A. County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis announced the opening of a Community Resilience Center at the East Los Angeles Library for residents affected by the Lineage Logistics warehouse fire beginning Saturday, June 27.

The center, at 4837 E. Third St. in Los Angeles, will be open from 1:00 to 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Beginning Monday, June 29, through July 4, operating hours will be 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

“This Community Resilience Center reflects our commitment to standing with residents long after the immediate emergency response,” Solis said. “Recovery does not end when the smoke clears, and families should not have to navigate multiple systems just to get basic support. We are bringing county departments, health providers and community partners together in one place so residents can more easily access care, information and essential resources.”

The center will open as the smoke respite shelter at City Terrace Park closes at noon Saturday because of declining demand. The City Terrace Park gymnasium will resume its ESTEAM youth programming, allowing children and teens to return to their regularly scheduled activities.

According to the county, residents will continue to have access to the same support previously available at the shelter, including air purifiers, personal protective equipment, water and other essential supplies. The Community Resilience Center also will serve as a one-stop location for county programs, health services and recovery assistance.

Representatives from the county departments of Public Health, Economic Opportunity, Consumer and Business Affairs, Public Social Services, Aging and Disabilities, Homeless Services and Housing, Animal Care and Control, Mental Health, and Health Services will be available on site. Expanded mobile health services also will be offered.

“My focus is on removing barriers and meeting people where they are, especially those still experiencing health concerns or disruptions from the warehouse fire,” Solis said. “Whether it is medical care, public health support or basic supplies, this center is designed to ensure help is coordinated, accessible and consistent as our community continues to recover.”

At Solis’ direction, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services deployed its mobile medical unit multiple times this week to City Terrace Park. Via Care also participated in air purifier distribution events coordinated by her office, providing basic medical care, prescriptions, respiratory assessments, health screenings and referrals at no cost.

The county also is partnering with several federally qualified health centers to expand access to free medical services throughout the week. Clinics will operate from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Belvedere Community Regional Park, where El Proyecto del Barrio and AltaMed will provide services; Salazar Park, where St. John’s Community Health will operate a clinic; and Our Lady of Victory Church, where Wesley Health Centers will provide care.

To date, Solis’ office has distributed more than 6,000 air purifiers, 58,500 N95 masks, 3,600 food boxes and 1,500 cases of water to residents affected by the warehouse fire, according to the county.
