KUSC Classical radio host Alan Chapman will share his encyclopedic knowledge of music with multimedia presentations during the six week-long ‘Alan Chapman Live’ summer Master’s Series at the Pasadena Senior Center.

The series will be on Thursdays from July 17 through August 21, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Pasadena Senior Center.
Now in his 41st year as a valued contributor to the Center’s Masters Series, Chapman will kick off this year’s series with a brand-new installment of his Musical Alphabet, a potpourri of musical topics. Along the way, he’ll explore 19th-century concertos — with a special spotlight on Beethoven — and he’ll take you on musical journeys to France and Spain as well.
To attend all six lectures, tuition is $90 for members and $108 for non-members. Individual lecture tickets may be purchased for $18 for members and $20 for non-members. The lectures are in-person and will not be recorded. Reservations are suggested and tickets will be available at the door.

- July 17: Musical Alphabet – Episode 11
- July 24: The Concerto (Part Two)
- July 31: A Few Frenchmen
- August 7: A Few More Frenchmen (and Frenchwomen)
- August 14: Musical Alphabet – Episode 12
- August 21: Some Spaniards
Alan Chapman has had a multifaced career in music — from being a college music professor and popular pre-concert lecturer, to roles on the radio and on the performance stage. With a Ph.D. in music theory from Yale, his impressive resume includes a number of powerful performances (including his own original songs), with appearances at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, and Lincoln Center. In the last decade, Alan developed the “Music 101” series for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which is still going strong. His entire family is musical, and the four of them performed as the Von Chaps on a 19-concert tour of China in 2019.
