South Pasadena voters have approved Measure SP, a school facilities improvement measure that will provide $128 million in locally controlled funding to repair and upgrade classrooms, laboratories, and other educational facilities throughout the South Pasadena Unified School District.

According to district officials, more than 73% of voters supported the measure, reflecting strong community backing for local schools and future investments in education.
In a statement on behalf of the South Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education, Board President Michele Kipke, Ph.D., thanked residents for their support and commitment to maintaining high-quality learning environments for students.
“The overwhelmingly positive vote represents your confidence in the future of our schools,” Kipke said. “South Pasadena residents have shown their commitment to supporting local education, and we are deeply grateful for that support.”
District leaders also recognized the efforts of the Yes on SP campaign committee, which led community outreach and voter education efforts ahead of the election. Kipke offered special thanks to campaign chair Emilia Aldana, who organized a team of volunteers dedicated to informing residents about the measure and its potential impact on local schools.
The district additionally acknowledged campaign donors whose contributions helped fund public education and outreach efforts related to the measure.
Officials said Measure SP will help preserve and enhance the quality of education available to South Pasadena students by funding critical improvements to school facilities and instructional spaces.
“The Yes on SP vote ensures we protect the high-quality education our students deserve,” Kipke said.
