The annual study evaluates hospitals in six areas: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness and variation in care.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses and staff, who work every day to provide exceptional care to our patients,” Marty Sargeant, chief operating officer of Keck Medicine of USC and CEO of Keck Medical Center of USC, said in a statement. “Receiving this distinction for the third time in a row demonstrates our commitment to continuously improving quality and the patient experience.”

Keck Hospital performed particularly well in patient-centeredness, effectiveness and variation in care, according to Tom Bates, chief quality officer for Keck Medicine.

The study uses data from the Vizient Clinical Data Base, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network. The recognition period ran from July 1, 2025, through July 30, 2026.

Keck Hospital of USC is a 343-bed acute-care hospital and part of Keck Medicine of USC, the University of Southern California’s medical enterprise.
