“A Ticket to Explore JPL” went live Monday, April 25, and heavy demand broke the link.

As of publishing time, the site started experiencing heavy traffic almost immediately at 9 a.m. This experiment was concocted by JPL due to the enormous public response to their traditional “come one, come all” open house that has been overwhelming for them, which translated to an overwhelming experience for many of their fans online. The “new approach” was an experiment being done in the hope to provide a safe and “enjoyable experience.” Many fans may not agree with that statement after this morning’s experience.
If you were successful…
The site kept experiencing problems. As of 9:15 a.m., we were able to access the page after several attempts and constant refreshing. Some of our readers started reporting tickets being sold out shortly after.
Tickets were available on April 25 at 9 a.m. (PT) and the link was almost immediately timing out.
There’s hope
You can still experience JPL in many other ways, including their monthly von Karman lecture series or weekday JPL Tours.
