The Arboretum Summer Nights Concert Series will feature a nostalgic celebration of American swing music on Friday, Aug. 7, as acclaimed guitarist Jonathan Stout takes the stage for an evening inspired by the sounds of the 1930s and 1940s.

Known for his quick fingers, upbeat style and warm stage presence, Stout brings the energy and charm of the swing era to modern audiences. His performances revive the lively rhythms and memorable melodies that defined the golden age of jazz while adding contemporary touches, including humor.
Stout’s musicianship has earned widespread praise from jazz fans, with one recent Instagram review describing his playing as “astonishing authenticity and elegance,” noting that his phrasing captures the spirit of swing-era masters while remaining fresh and personal.
The concert is designed to be more than just a musical performance. Food trucks Rice Balls of Fire and Daddy’s Best Froyo will be on site alongside local artists, vendors, crafts and lawn games, creating a festive atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for guests to relax, socialize and dance.
The event is open to the public, with free admission for Arboretum members. Guests are encouraged to reserve tickets online in advance.
Attendees are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas, as well as picnic dinners to enjoy on the lawn during the performance. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase, including specialty cocktails such as the Sapphire Peacock, Plumeria Passion and Micheladas at the Peacock Bar. Happy Hour will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m. before the concert begins.
