The Pasadena Lancers (17-14) continue their home dominance as they beat the East Los Angeles College Huskies (13-17-1) in an offensive dominant 8-4 victory on past Saturday, April 6. They gather their 17th victory of the season and extend their at-home record to 11-6.

ELAC started the game off quickly thanks to a two-run first inning. However, Pasadena responded right away with Bryan Richman scoring off an Adrian Roman fielder’s choice and Jack Esguerra scoring off a Thomas Villanueva single.

Heading into the second inning, any momentum the ELAC Huskies garnered in the first was quickly lost, with Pasadena’s Joe Bacon striking out two batters in the inning. The Lancers’ offense took advantage of the efficient pitching and gained a 4-2 lead thanks to a Richman sacrifice fly and Esguerra single.

From here on out, it was all Pasadena. Bacon continued his dominance, shutting out the Huskies up until the ninth inning when they finally scored two runs.

Pasadena capitalized on ELAC’s slow offense by scoring one run in the third inning thanks to a Tyler Garcia sacrifice fly. They then scored two runs in the fourth inning off the back of a one-run Roman triple and one-run Villanueva single, extending their lead to 7-2.

From the fifth to seventh innings, both sides struggled to find their bats as they combined for one hit in total. Excellent defense and pitching by both sides held the game at 7-2 until the eighth inning when Roman singled to center field scoring Esguerra for his third RBI of the game.

After a dominant game, pitching 8.2 innings, Joe Bacon was unable to close the deal giving up two runs to ELAC in the ninth with one out remaining. Ben Griffith was called in to finish it off and did so by striking out the final batter, attaining his fourth save of the season.

On the offensive side, Adrian Roman went two for five, scoring one run, and leading the team with three RBIs. Jack Esguerra led the team in both runs and hits with three apiece.

Pasadena now prepares to face Compton College in a three-game series starting Tuesday, April 9. Their next home game will be on Thursday, April 11.
