      ELECTION 2024

California State Assembly hopeful Jed Leano has picked up the endorsement of Pasadena City Councilmember Jess Rivas, in his bid to replace Chris Holden as the Dist. 41 representative.

      By News Desk

District 41 includes Altadena, Monrovia, La Canada Flintridge, Sierra Madre, and Bradbury, as well as communities to the north and east.

Leano currently serves on the Claremont City Council, following a term as its mayor. He launched his private immigration law practice in Pasadena 15 years ago, served a one-year term as president of the Pasadena Jaycees, served on the Tournament of Roses’ post-parade committee from 2011-12, as Chair of the San Gabriel Valley Regional Housing Trust, the L.A. County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency, as Chair of Tri-City Mental Health Center, and on the board of the Immigration Resource Center of San Gabriel Valley. He is the son of Filipino immigrants. Leano would replace Chris Holden, who will term out after being first elected to the Assembly in 2012. The California legislature is one of 16 state legislatures with term limits. Since the passage of Prop 28 in 2012, legislators first elected on or after November 6, 2012, are limited to a maximum of 12 years of service.

In a comment to Colorado Boulevard, Leano said:

Since our campaign launch, our message addressing California’s crippling housing and homelessness crisis has resonated and continues to secure us support throughout the district, region, and state.”

Rivas praised Leano’s penchant for championing causes and programs that improve the quality of life for those he serves. “Jed has proven himself to be a leader, not just in Pasadena, but throughout the region,” Councilmember Rivas said in her endorsement of Leano.

Felicia Williams and and Phlunté Riddle are also running for the open seat. The election will take place on March 5, 2024.
