The No. 5 CFP-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes, runner-up of the Big Ten Conference, and the No. 6 CFP-ranked Stanford Cardinal, champions of the Pac-12 Conference, have earned berths to play in the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual at 1:30 p.m. PT (4:30 p.m. ET), Friday, January 1, 2016, at the Rose Bowl Stadium.

Rose Bowl Management Committee chairperson Scott Jenkins said:

The Tournament of Roses is thrilled to host Iowa and Stanford at this year’s Rose Bowl Game. We expect an exciting matchup between the Hawkeyes and the Cardinal on New Year’s Day here in Pasadena. This year, we return to our traditional Big Ten and Pac-12 matchup and we can’t wait to welcome the teams and the fans from both schools to the Granddaddy of Them All.

Iowa finished the season with an overall record of 12-1 (8-0 conference). The Big Ten West Division Champions will make their sixth appearance in the Rose Bowl Game when they take the field on New Year’s Day. The Hawkeyes last appeared in the Granddaddy of Them All in 1991 when they lost, 46-34, to the Washington Huskies. Their overall record in the Rose Bowl Game is 2-3, with their last win coming in the 1959 Rose Bowl Game against the California Bears.

Stanford finished the season as Pac-12 Conference Champions, winning their third Pac-12 Championship in four years after routing USC 41-22. The Cardinal finished the year with a 11-2 overall record (8-1 in conference), and will make their fifteenth Rose Bowl Game appearance on New Year’s Day. Their last appearance in the game was in 2014 and they hold a 6-7-1 overall record in their Rose Bowl Game appearances. Stanford’s last Rose Bowl Game win came in 2013 against Wisconsin.

The 102nd Rose Bowl Game will mark the first-ever meeting in history between the Hawkeyes and the Cardinal.

Pre-game festivities on January 1, will begin at 1:30 p.m. PT (4:30 p.m. ET). The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Additional tickets for the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual are available online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-653-8000.
