The Angeles National Forest has successfully completed a series of upgrades to its popular Sawmill and Bear campgrounds, thanks to funding from the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).

These much-needed improvements aim to enhance the safety and overall experience for campers while preserving the natural beauty of the area.
Key upgrades include the installation of new fire rings, providing a safer and more enjoyable campfire experience for visitors. In addition, bear-proof storage lockers have been added to help protect food and other supplies from wildlife, ensuring both campers’ and animals’ safety.
Information boards have been placed throughout the campgrounds to offer helpful guidance and enhance visitor education about the park’s wildlife and regulations. New railings have also been installed to better outline parking spots, improving both accessibility and organization. Drainage features were added to prevent flooding and reduce erosion, helping to maintain the campground’s integrity during rainstorms.
These improvements are part of ongoing efforts funded by the #GreatAmericanOutdoorsAct (#GAOA), which seeks to modernize and protect America’s national parks and public lands. The Angeles National Forest’s Sawmill and Bear campgrounds, now more inviting than ever, are expected to see an influx of visitors enjoying these refreshed amenities in the coming months.
