Maybe this time will be different and at least one of those 50 GOP senators will abort their fealty to the gun lobby to choose life over carnage.

It cannot be this easy for an 18-year-old to buy firearms and 375 rounds of ammunition within the span of a few days. 90% of us want sensible gun laws.
We had a close call here in South Pasadena in 2014 when two High School boys were apprehended planning a school shooting, days before school started. I held the office of mayor that year and recall how anguished the kids, parents and teachers were during those weeks. My own kids were 8 and 13 then.
I can only imagine the sorrow and pain those families who will not see their children again are experiencing and the devastating trauma the community of Uvalde is going through. I’m heartbroken and angry like many of you. Maybe this time will be different …
Goodnight little angels. May you all rest in peace. I’m sorry we failed you. You deserved to live and grow up.
