      “Measure Still For Measure” – a play within a play (see CB review). Boston Court’s first-ever immersive play, utilizing the entire building, will take you on a journey behind the curtain to the layered and intimate complexities of creating theatre. Just a few more performances left, extended through Oct. 22.
      Also check the website for info on Boston Court’s 20th Anniversary Benefit at Noor Event Space at The Paseo on November 9. If you want to support the arts, this is worth your time and money.

      A short run (Oct. 15 and 16),– the theater’s “Women’s Project” presents “Practice House,” based on a real chapter in American education, in which babies were leased from local orphanages to train women in the new and improved “scientific parenting methods”. Interesting!
      Also, check out the dozens of online podcasts by Lance Davis, introducing classic plays and stories in accessible, professional, short form presentations.

Every room takes on a new decade while you are whisked through important cultural, political and historical events from the 1950s to the year 1999.

      • IAMA Theatre Company – iamatheatre.com; 11/11-12/11 – “Radical, or Are You Gonna Miss Me?” tells the story of three women on the Mexican-American border, desperate to be seen, regardless of the cost.
      • Echo Theater Company – echotheatercompany.com – through Oct. 23 – With adulthood looming in the distance, Jahaan and his friends enjoy the last precious moments of summer vacation. A poetic exploration of missed connections and feelings too great to speak aloud. Highly recommended, don’t miss this one!
      • Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA – estlosangeles.org – 10/15 “Sunday Best” free – reading of new works; opens at 9:30 with coffee and bagels. ”Botched” by Leilani Squire, “Play 2” by Les and Kate Probst, and “G(r)eek” by Ladd Sullivan
      • Open Fist Theatre Company – openfist.org – through 10/28 – Blood at the Root” – Infused with hip-hop music and movement, Blood at the Root sheds light on escalating tensions between Black and white students at a Southern high school, extended through October 28, good call by the theater, it’s well done – highly recommended!
