While the world’s attention is on the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Forest Lawn Museum hosts GOOOOL!, World Cup’s Greatest Moments event, an original art exhibition that marks the premiere traveling exhibition of objects from the collection of the FIFA World Football Museum in Zürich, Switzerland.
The event is a Soccer fan dream come true. Images, jerseys, soccer balls, medals, tickets and other soccer objects that reveal the greatest and most controversial moments in soccer history—spanning from a pennant awarded to Garrincha, the hero of Brazil’s second World Cup victory in 1962, to the 1998 FIFA World Cup France™ jersey belonging to Zinédine Zidane, one of only three players since 1966 to score twice in a final—will be on display through September 16, 2018.
What to be expect
GOOOOL! The World Cup’s Greatest Moments is also presented in association with the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, which is currently displaying Goles y Pasiones: 11 Décadas de Futbol en México (Goals and Passions (11 Decades of Soccer in Mexico).
The event will highlight significant soccer events and rare collectibles that will remind visitors of the triumphs, heartbreaks and real-life heroes like Pelé (Brazil), Diego Maradona (Argentina), and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) that continue to motivate young, aspiring soccer players and fans everywhere.
It will also feature 15 soccer jerseys from renowned FIFA players from the 1920s to 2010, and objects from four of the six regional confederations that help make up FIFA: The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
The objects are being on display for the first time outside of the The FIFA World Football Museum. The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Free admission and parking.
The Museum is housed on the 290-acre site of Forest Lawn–Glendale, a renowned Southern California landmark since 1906. Forest Lawn–Glendale is one of Forest Lawn’s most picturesque locations. It features a world-renowned art museum, extraordinary statuary and the Hall of the Crucifixion-Resurrection, home to Jan Styka’s immense painting, The Crucifixion, and Robert Clark’s Resurrection, two of the largest religious paintings in the western hemisphere.
