The individual involved was identified as Firefighter/Paramedic Andrew Jimenez, who has served with the Glendale Fire Department since April 28, 2008. He has been placed off duty and on administrative leave effective immediately.
“Our condolences are with the victim’s family and loved ones,” Glendale Fire Chief Jeff Brooks said in a statement. “We are prepared to support those impacted by this tragedy, and we are also ensuring our firefighters and staff have access to support resources as they process this loss.”
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident began on January 21, 2026, around 4:00 am, when a man entered the LAPD Northeast Community Police Station and requested a welfare check on his wife. He provided officers with an address in the 5600 block of Satsuma Avenue in North Hollywood.
Officers responded to the residence and, upon entry, discovered a woman suffering from blunt force trauma who had died prior to their arrival. A homicide crime scene was established, and the Robbery-Homicide Division, Valley Bureau Section, assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Investigators conducted interviews, reviewed video evidence, and processed the scene. The investigation determined the victim and suspect were married and that the incident was an act of domestic violence.
The victim was identified as Mayra Jimenez, 55, of North Hollywood. The suspect was identified as Andrew Jimenez, 45, also of North Hollywood.
Police stated the incident was isolated and that there is no threat to public safety. Andrew Jimenez has been booked on a charge of murder, with bail set at $2 million.
