The Friends of the Altadena Library (FOAL) will welcome a special guest speaker at its annual meeting on Tuesday, June 2, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Altadena Community Center.
By Melanie Hooks
Former Altadena Town Council Chair Victoria Knapp connected with Paradise Mayor Steve Crowder following the Eaton Fire, leading to an exchange of experiences and insight between the two recovering communities. As a result of those conversations, Crowder has been invited to speak to local residents about resilience, recovery and maintaining community spirit after disaster.
The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm with FOAL presenting a gift to the Altadena Library and conducting a vote on its next slate of officers. Voting is limited to FOAL members, though the event is open to the public.
Crowder will discuss Paradise’s recovery following the devastating 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire in California history. He has since become a sought-after speaker on community resilience and rebuilding after tragedy.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP in advance. Questions for Mayor Crowder may also be submitted ahead of time through May 29 as part of the RSVP process.
