Summer food insecurity is a major issue for many area children, and PUSD is stepping in to help fill the gap.

      By Melanie Hooks

Pasadena Unified School District will offer free breakfasts and lunches to all children ages 18 and under through June and July. Registration or PUSD enrollment is not required. Meals are distributed at designated campuses and local community sites.

Jennifer Andraos, Director of Food Nutrition Services, writes that the program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and PUSD’s Food and Nutrition Services Department and is operated by PUSD, the city of Pasadena and other organizations.  The USDA’s Free Summer Meals program, Andraos adds, “is an amazing program that ensures all children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.”
