A free community concert featuring emerging musicians from across Southern California will take place on Sunday, June 7 at 3:00 pm. at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, located at 320 S. Mission Dr. in San Gabriel.

The program, titled Young Soloists of Southern California, is presented by the Olympia Philharmonic Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1988 with a mission to promote classical music throughout Southern California through orchestral, chamber, and solo performances. The organization also places emphasis on music education for children, including its annual Olympia Youth Orchestra program.
This concert will feature approximately thirty local high school and college musicians performing works from major classical composers, including Beethoven, Dvořák, Grieg, Schubert, Vivaldi, and Wieniawski. Featured soloist Jacob Sun, the American String Teachers Association Los Angeles Grand Prize winner, will also perform.
The afternoon program includes a diverse selection of orchestral and chamber works:
- Vivaldi’s Concerto for 4 Violins
- Grieg’s String Quartet No. 1
- Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No. 1
- Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1
- Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2
- Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished)
The concert is open to the public and free of charge.
