A unique community event, the Free-Art Fair (FAF), is set to take place on March 2nd in Frogtown, Los Angeles, offering a powerful opportunity for individuals affected by the region’s devastating wildfires to reclaim a sense of home and identity.

The event, running from 11:00 to 8:00 pm, is a day-long art fair where survivors of the fires will receive beautiful, donated artwork to help rebuild their lives.
The idea for the event arose from a deeply personal experience shared by co-organizer Isabella, a longtime patron of the arts who lost her home in the Eaton fire. After evacuating, Isabella was unable to retrieve the many unique pieces of art she had lovingly collected over the years. Her heartache inspired the creation of FAF, which seeks to fill the void left by the loss of personal possessions, particularly artwork—an item often irreplaceable in the chaos of a disaster.
The event has sparked an overwhelming response from the artistic community, with over 60 local and international artists donating works in a variety of mediums, including paintings, illustrations, sculpture, photography, ceramics, and prints. Notable participating artists include Robert Minervini, Tim Biskub, Chasen Walcott, Katy Krantz, and Natasha Law, to name just a few.
In addition to works by renowned artists, the FAF will highlight artists from the Altadena area who themselves lost homes and studios in the fires. One such artist, Sunny Mills, lost both her home and valuable antique tintype equipment, which she had used to photograph the Altadena community.
On the day of the fair, attendees who have lost their homes will be invited to choose a piece of art to take home. Additionally, for those unable to accept art on the spot, storage options will be available until they are ready to receive their gift.
Local businesses have also stepped up to contribute, providing food and drink to make the day even more special. Donations are coming from popular spots like Woon, Bub & Grandma’s, Little Flower, Melanie’s Wine Bar, Kitchen Mouse, and Skyduster Beer.
As Altadena continues to rebuild after the devastating fires, the Free-Art Fair stands as a shining example of the town’s resilience, creativity, and the generosity of its artistic community.
