PCC is the only Community College in the Los Angeles Area that offers a Semester Abroad Program in Italy, and one of only a few in the State of California.

By Rita D’Amico and Michelle Banks

The Pasadena City College Study Abroad Program in Florence, Italy is back for Fall 2022!

The program is open to people who are interested in experiencing the rich culture of Italy, while earning college credit. The program is open to all, ages 18 years old and up.

Study abroad is a life changing experience that gives individuals opportunities to learn about another culture first-hand and to learn a foreign language in an environment that can’t be replicated in a classroom. Students in the program live like Italians– they have the chance to travel and make connections within Italy and expand their world views, all while earning transfer-level coursework at reasonable prices.

The participants have the privilege of living in the center of Florence, bithplace of the magnificent Renaissance, where the culture and values of Western Culture were developed. They can explore Italian culture while advancing personal educational goals. Studying abroad isn’t just an important part of a well-rounded educational experience–– it’s also becoming increasingly important for success in the modern global economy.

To learn more about this fantastic opportunity, you are encouraged to attend an information meeting on Zoom. Although there is high demand for the program, applications are still being accepted. More information on the 2022 Fall Semester Abroad Program in Florence is available on the Pasadena City College Study Abroad webpage.

Rita D’Amico has been Professor of Italian at PCC since 2012, and her co-coordinator Michelle Banks has been Professor of English  since 2011.
