Repair Café is going online!
By News Desk
A virtual Repair Café will take place via Zoom on Saturday, August 8, 2020, beginning at noon.
Naturally, the virtual Repair Cafe has a different format than previous events. Rather than fixing individual items, volunteers will demonstrate useful skills that participants can follow along with at home. Highlights will include hemming clothing, knife sharpening, and an introduction to electrical repair.
Sessions and sign-ups
Sessions will be divided into five 20-minute sessions with two different skill demonstrations per session. Attendees will choose one demonstration to attend per session. Those who wish to participate must sign up ahead of time using a Virtual Repair Cafe Sign-Up Form. Virtual attendance is limited in order to keep the size of the event manageable.
If the slots are not filled up and there’s still space available, an email with a link to the Zoom meeting will be sent on the evening of Friday, August 7, 2020.
Organizers are excited but, understandably, a little nervous about the new format.
