Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger joined Steuber at the site this morning to commemorate the occasion, offering remarks and speaking with media as construction crews officially broke ground.
“This moment represents more than just construction—it’s about renewal and resilience,” said Supervisor Barger. “Margot’s determination to rebuild is an inspiration, and I’m proud to stand with her as this next chapter begins. My office will continue to support Eaton Fire survivors every step of the way.”
Steuber’s home was destroyed in the fire, and she recently completed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ debris removal program, paving the way for rebuilding. Her property was cleared just weeks ago, making today’s groundbreaking a hopeful and symbolic step forward—not only for her but for the entire community affected by the disaster.
Supervisor Barger emphasized the County’s commitment to helping fire survivors rebuild their homes and lives, calling today’s event a beacon of optimism and determination for the entire Altadena community.
