Find a Great Summer Read at Friends of Pasadena Library Book Sale

Looking for a good summer read, or a few treasures to take home? The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library are inviting book lovers to browse, fill a bag and support Pasadena’s libraries at their upcoming book sale.

The sale will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on the patio of The Friends Bookstore, 1500 East Villa Street, between Hill and Allen Avenues, east of the Jefferson Branch Library.

There will be something for readers of all ages, with a broad selection of used books, DVDs, CDs, LPs and lots of children’s books. And there’s an especially inviting deal for anyone looking to stock up: Fill a paper grocery bag with books from the patio for just $5. Then head into the bookstore and fill another bag with more finds. Premium and $5 books will be half off.

Payment is easy, with cash, checks, major credit and debit cards, and mobile wallets including Apple Pay, PayPal and Zelle accepted.

Every purchase helps keep Pasadena’s libraries vibrant. Proceeds from the sale fund programs at all 10 library branches, including Summer Reading Club, One City, One Story, Women’s History Month, One Book, One Coast, Black History Month, Latino Heritage Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Month, Native American Heritage Month and more.

For 50 years, The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library have been helping bring library programs, special services and cultural events to the community. Founded in 1975, the organization supports projects that spark the excitement of discovery and nurture a love of reading among library patrons of all ages.

So bring your curiosity, and perhaps an extra bag or two. You just might leave with a stack of books you can’t wait to read, while helping support the programs that make Pasadena’s libraries such an important part of community life.
