Felita Kealing has announced her candidacy for the Pasadena Unified Board of Education, District 1, representing Northwest Altadena.

      By News Desk

Kealing has longstanding ties to the Pasadena Unified School District. She attended district schools, raised two sons in PUSD, and has spent decades working alongside families, educators, and community organizations to support students.

In her campaign announcement, Kealing said the loss of her family’s Altadena home in the Eaton Fire reinforced her belief in the importance of schools as community hubs and underscored the value of community support during times of crisis.

According to her campaign, Kealing’s priorities include strengthening partnerships between schools and the community, supporting educators and staff, and expanding opportunities for student success across the district.

Kealing is encouraging residents to learn more about her background and platform through her campaign website, follow campaign updates on social media, and support her campaign through volunteer efforts or financial contributions. She said she also plans to spend the coming months meeting with families throughout District 1 to hear their concerns and discuss her vision for the future of the Pasadena Unified School District.

      About Our Election Coverage:

      Advertising
Candidates and ballot measures may purchase advertising in our print and online editions. Participation in advertising is voluntary.

      Editorial Independence
Colorado Boulevard Newspaper maintains a strict separation between advertising and editorial content. Our reporting decisions are made independently and are not influenced by advertising revenue. No story will be suppressed, removed, minimized, or promoted based on advertising relationships.

      Contributors Running for Office
From time to time, contributors to our newspaper may choose to run for public office. Articles submitted before a contributor publicly announces or files as a candidate may still be published, even if publication occurs after the announcement, provided they were accepted through the normal editorial process before the contributor became a candidate.
Once a contributor runs for office, Colorado Boulevard Newspaper will no longer accept new submissions from that contributor for the duration of the election. From that point forward, they will be covered under the same editorial standards and policies that apply to all other candidates.

      Op-Eds
Colorado Boulevard Newspaper accepts one election-related op-ed submission per candidate or ballot measure campaign, whether submitted by the candidate, campaign representative, or supporter. Submissions may be copy-edited for clarity, accuracy, length, and style, and final approval will be provided to the author prior to publication. Colorado Boulevard Newspaper reserves the right to decline submissions that do not meet editorial standards.

      Editorial Standards
Colorado Boulevard Newspaper is an independently owned publication committed to editorial independence and journalistic integrity. Final decisions regarding coverage, recommendations, endorsements, and publication standards remain at the discretion of the editorial team.
