The autumnal equinox, which happens to be September 23, 2023, is when day and night are each about twelve hours long.
In the Northern Hemisphere (USA, Central America, Canada, Europe, Asia, northern Africa) the actual time of equal day and night occurs a few days after the autumnal equinox.
