Extreme Heat Watch Issued for Greater Pasadena Area and San Gabriel Valley

A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 10 am Tuesday for Greater Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley, with forecasters warning that even more dangerous heat is expected next week.

An Extreme Heat Watch has also been issued for Tuesday through Thursday, July 14–16, as temperatures are forecast to climb well above normal across inland areas away from the coast.

The Pasadena area will see a stretch of warm, dry weather through the weekend, with sunny skies and daytime highs around 93 degrees Thursday and Friday. High temperatures will ease slightly into the lower 90s on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, while overnight lows remain in the mid-60s.

A slight chance of showers is forecast Sunday night, but otherwise dry conditions are expected.

The heat is forecast to intensify beginning Tuesday, with temperatures reaching about 95 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The hottest day of the period is expected Wednesday, when highs climb to around 97 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

Residents are urged to prepare for prolonged hot weather as the Heat Advisory remains in effect through early Tuesday, followed by the Extreme Heat Watch through Thursday of next week.
