Vroman’s Bookstore in conjunction with the Pasadena Conservatory of Music is hosting a Summer Music Series with performances from artists of various genres.

      • 8/5: The Megan Shung Quintet
An electrifying jazz chamber ensemble breaking genre boundaries with a blend of violin, cello, bass, keyboard, and drums. Drawing inspiration from folk, jazz, and original compositions, their unique sound captivates audiences with its vibrant fusion. Prepare for a musical experience that transcends expectations.
      • 8/12: Clarice Cast and Friends
Brazilian multi percussionist Clarice Cast is an active performer, recording artist, and composer in Los Angeles. She will be joined by singer/songwriter Caro Pierotto, and guitarist, singer/songwriter, and producer Grecco Buratto to perform Brazilian bossa-nova, samba, and more.
      • 8/26: The Ukelele Orchestra of the Western Hemisphere
The Ukelele Orchestra of the Western Hemisphere is a group of roughly twelve-ish ukes of all shapes, sizes, and pedigrees, played by a similarly esoteric bunch of people. The music you hear was not meant to be played on ukulele: classic rock, new wave hits, rap and dance-pop tunes, recent Top 40, torch song classics, and all sorts of other bits and bobs of musical history. Just no ukelele music. The UOWH has a long history playing at local venues, with a particular enthusiasm for appearances at fundraisers, community events, school fairs, retirement homes, weddings and other private events, and sketchy traveling circuses.

The Pasadena Conservatory of Music (PCM) is a nonprofit community music school that provides opportunities to learn, perform, and enjoy music to students of all ages and backgrounds. PCM is pleased to partner with Vroman’s Bookstore in offering this Summer Music Series, featuring faculty from PCM’s Jazz and World Music departments.
