The Joy Luck Club (Photo – City of Monterey Park)
Classic film enthusiasts are invited to a special film screening of The Joy Luck Club featuring Golden Globe Nominee France Nuyen.
After the screening, join film historian Foster Hirsch, who will lead a discussion with Ms. Nuyen about the film. Ms. Nuyen was a Golden Globe award nominee for South Pacific in 1959. In 1989, she received the Woman of the Year award in Los Angeles for her work as a consulting psychologist in treating abused children, and battered and incarcerated women.
France Nuyen appeared on Broadway in the title role of The World of Suzie Wong. Among her many film credits are South Pacific, Battle for the Planet of the Apes, and The Joy Luck Club. Ms. Nuyen has also appeared as a guest star on many television series including Star Trek, Hawaii Five-O, Charlie’s Angels, Kung Fu, and more. This event is presented in partnership with the Monterey Park Historical Museum.
