Bedazzle and Bejewel Your Book (Photo – Taura Scott)
While many readers mark Women’s History Month by revisiting their favorite female authors, the Crowell Public Library is offering teens a glitter-filled upgrade: bedazzling those beloved books.
This Tuesday, March 10, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, the library will host a special crafting session inviting teens ages 11–17 to decorate and bejewel a bestselling YA novel or manga of their choice. Participants can bring a favorite book or journal from home, or select from a limited supply of titles written by women, including Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist, Karen M. McManus’ One of Us Is Lying, and Nicola Yoon’s Instructions for Dancing.
The event blends creativity with celebration, giving young readers a hands-on way to honor women storytellers whose work has shaped contemporary literature. Glitter, gems, and other decorative materials will be provided, ensuring every participant can leave with a uniquely personalized keepsake.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the program is free and open to all eligible teens. No registration is required, and space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
As Women’s History Month continues, the Crowell Public Library hopes this playful, artistic gathering will inspire teens to explore new voices, and maybe add a little sparkle to their bookshelves along the way.
