[Postponed to May 2 due to rain] The City of South Pasadena, in partnership with South Pasadena Beautiful and Friends of South Pasadena Nature Park, will host a free, family-friendly Sustainability Fair, Plant Swap & Garden Tour on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

The event will run from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Arroyo Seco Woodland & Wildlife Park, also known as the Nature Park, located at 100 Pasadena Avenue. Organizers say the fair aims to celebrate environmental stewardship while offering hands-on opportunities for attendees to learn about sustainable living.

The interactive event will feature a variety of activities designed to engage residents and visitors of all ages. A centerpiece of the fair is the plant swap, where participants are encouraged to bring a potted, labeled plant—no cuttings—and exchange it for another. A selection of native and low-water plants will also be available.

Cyclists can take advantage of a complimentary bike valet service provided by Active South Pas, allowing them to securely park their bikes while exploring the event.

Educational programming will highlight topics such as water conservation rebates, organics recycling, the city’s leaf blower ban, and other sustainability initiatives. Attendees can also visit booths hosted by community organizations and utilities to learn more about environmentally friendly practices.

The event includes a guided garden tour showcasing South Pasadena’s superbloom and a newly established micro-forest. Tours are scheduled for 1:45 pm and 3:15 pm. Families with children can also participate in a Story Path and a Nature Scavenger Hunt.

Workshops will provide practical guidance for sustainable living. A garden design workshop, scheduled from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, will offer expert advice on creating water-wise landscapes and rain gardens, facilitated by the Metropolitan Water District and Green Media Studio. Additionally, a 3-stream waste sorting workshop led by Athens Services will take place at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm, helping attendees better understand the city’s new trash sorting system.

Attendees can access the Nature Park through two entrances. The lower entrance is located near the Arroyo Seco Golf Course driving range via a paved shared-use path at the west end of Lohman Lane, where limited street parking is available and bike valet service is recommended. The upper entrance is located on the 100 block of Pasadena Avenue, east of the York Boulevard Bridge, with additional street parking nearby; however, visitors should be prepared to walk down a set of winding stairs to reach the event area.

More information is available on the City of South Pasadena’s Environmental Programs page and the South Pasadena Beautiful website.
