Residents of Sierra Madre are invited to take part in an upcoming community discussion focused on emergency preparedness following recent fire evacuations.

The Sierra Madre Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold its monthly general meeting on Thursday, March 26, where members and guests will share firsthand accounts of being evacuated during the Eaton Fire. The event aims to provide a space for community members to reflect on their experiences and identify ways to improve readiness for future emergencies.

Attendees will hear stories from individuals who were forced to leave their homes, often relying on pre-packed go-bags, essential documents, and easily portable valuables. The discussion will explore what worked well during the evacuation process, what challenges arose, and what lessons have been learned over the past year.

Organizers hope the meeting will encourage community-wide dialogue on how to strengthen preparedness efforts and adapt emergency plans moving forward. The event is open to the public.

The meeting will take place at Hart Park House at 7:00 pm.
