Residents of the San Gabriel Valley are invited to explore local water systems and enjoy a day outdoors during a special event hosted by Active San Gabriel Valley on Saturday, April 18.

The event, funded by the Water Foundation and the Safe Clean Water Program, offers participants an opportunity to learn about Los Angeles County’s watersheds while traveling by public transit from Arcadia to Glendora.

Attendees will meet at 10:15 am at the Arcadia Metro Station before boarding a train to Glendora. Upon arrival, participants will walk approximately 1.1 miles to South Hills Park, where the program will feature an educational talk on watersheds and stormwater capture. Guests can then choose to relax, hike a two-mile trail, or enjoy free time exploring the park and surrounding area.

The program concludes at 1:30 pm, with options for participants to return to the Glendora station, visit Glendora Village, or remain at the park.

To encourage transit use, Metro TAP cards will be provided to the first 35 registered attendees who arrive at the Arcadia station. Participation is free, but advance registration via Eventbrite is required.

Organizers recommend that attendees bring water, snacks, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and other personal items for a day outdoors.

The Safe Clean Water Program, which supports the event, is a Los Angeles County initiative focused on capturing, cleaning, and conserving local water resources. Through investments in green infrastructure, habitat restoration, and public education, the program aims to reduce pollution and strengthen regional water sustainability.

For additional information, participants can contact Active SGV representative Anita at anita@activesgv.org.
