The City of Pasadena will host a Parking Open House to provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about a proposed paid parking program in Playhouse Village.
The City of Pasadena is collaborating with the Playhouse Village Association and parking consultants Dixon Resources Unlimited to determine when, where, and how paid parking will be implemented on-street in Playhouse Village. As part of this process, the Parking Open House will allow community members to check out different types of paid parking equipment and provide input and feedback.
Charging for parking in high-demand areas encourages vehicle turnover and convenient parking. The paid parking rate structure has not yet been determined. Parking will be priced with the intent of reaching the industry target 85 percent parking occupancy rate, so that there usually will be some parking available on each block.
Parking Open House
The parking open house will take place at the Ground Floor Conference Center, 790 E Colorado Blvd, on Wednesday, February 22, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
During the Parking Open House, attendees will be able to ask city staff and parking professionals questions regarding the paid parking program, and they can check out pay station options to be installed at on-street parking locations.
The Parking Open House will provide community members with an opportunity to find out about the types of validation options offered by different parking equipment.
While no determinations have been made, it is anticipated that any net revenue from paid parking will be returned to the Playhouse Village community for reinvestment. This could include funds for beautification, such as street and sidewalk cleaning, trash collection, streetscape improvements, neighborhood art, and more.
The installation of equipment would not occur until late 2023, but the actual timing will depend on Council and community input, the study findings, and the equipment lead time.
