Most southern California residents have heard that conserving water is beneficial, but many of us need a little more guidance when it comes to what that looks like when it comes to a garden.
Pasadena Water and Power is offering a workshop to give that helping hand at Robinson Park Recreation Center, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, on Thursday, May 7, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm.
This workshop will walk customers through the process of planning a landscape that captures rainwater, conserves water and thrives with local climate conditions.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Understand and contour your landscape to capture and retain rainwater
- Calculate and site a rain garden for maximum benefits
- Create hydrozones to improve irrigation efficiency
- Choose climate-appropriate plants and group them for visual impact and function
- Integrate permeable hardscaping elements that support drainage and aesthetics
- Apply key design principles including “right plant, right place,” plant forms, accents, and color
