The Pasadena Symphony closes the season on April 29 with Gershwin’s iconic Jazz Age composition accompanied by Barber’s brilliantly romantic violin concerto performed by Tai Murray.
Composers Showcase piece Carlos Simon’s The Block is based on six paintings by Romare Bearden of different buildings (church barbershop nightclub etc.) on one block in Harlem highlighting the rich energy and joyous sceneries that Harlem expressed as the hotbed for African American culture.
