Join hosts Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition, the NAACP Pasadena Branch, and Day One for a free screening of “Biking While Black: Continuing to Ride Through Decriminalization, Disenfranchisement, and Gentrification.”
This short documentary, directed by LA based director and Urban Sustainabilist & Mobility Justice Strategist Yolanda Davis-Overstreet, expands upon a previous short film and dialogue about bicycling in Los Angeles by incorporating more narratives to dig deeper into the solution-based storytelling and features the actions being taken by some of our leading Black bicyclists and BIPOC community-based organizations who are paving new roads to tackle the myths, the community safety conditions in Los Angeles, and celebrating Black joy on two wheels.
Following the screening, you’re invited to a discussion with Ms.
Davis-Overstreet and community members Flavio Andrade and Jason Jameson, moderated by NAACP Pasadena President Allen Edson. How does this film relate to Pasadena and what can we learn from our neighbors in Los Angeles?
Light refreshments will be served prior to the screening.
