Pasadena’s Complete Streets Coalition hosts new Pasadena Community Bike Plan unveiling (Photo – PCSC)
Wednesday, June 3rd is World Bike Day, and the City of Pasadena is jumping in two wheels first. They’re unveiling the newest Community Bike Plan to the public at this McDonald Park event, with doors opening at 6:30 pm and launch at 7:15 pm.
The public is encouraged to attend, view the path unveiling, ask questions, and support community biking. Games, food, and activities for the whole family will be available, and RSVPs are encouraged via Eventbrite.
The event is sponsored by the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition, a group of volunteers who advocate and work toward Complete Streets for the community. Their website describes this goal:
Complete Streets, also known as “livable” streets, are streets designed for everyone. They provide safe access for all users, regardless of age and mode of transportation. Pedestrians, bicyclists, driver, and public transportation users of all ages and abilities should be able to safely move along and across a Complete Street.
While the exact design of a Complete Street will depend on local needs, some examples of Complete Street elements include highly visible crosswalks, transit stops designed for greater comfort and accessibility, pedestrian signals, bike signals, median islands, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, street trees, and water-collecting bioswales.
McDonald Park is located at 1000 E. Mountain St., Pasadena, CA 91104.
