UPDATE: As of Monday, June 22, the June 27th Independence Day Celebration has been cancelled due to poor air quality from the ongoing Boyle Heights fire.

With the nation’s 250th birthday being celebrated this 4th of July, civic calendars are full of competing events. Monterey Park’s decision to hold its event at Barnes Park on Saturday, June 27, surely puts them ahead of the game.

Join in the family friendly Independence Day celebration at Barnes Park featuring live entertainment and a free fireworks show on June 27, from 4:00 pm – 9:30 pm. The free community event will feature live entertainment at the Barnes Park Amphitheater and conclude with the City’s annual fireworks show at 9:00 pm. (Pet owners, be aware.)

Residents are encouraged to bring family and friends for an evening of patriotic festivities. Visitors should note that streets surrounding Barnes Park, including McPherrin, Harding, and Ramona avenues, will be closed from 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm due to the fireworks safety zone.

For more information, including fireworks safety reminders, visit the city website or contact the Recreation and Community Services Department at (626) 307-1388.
