Just in time for Mother’s Day, Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC) presents its Spring Concert, celebrating hope and joy through music, on Sundays, May 10 (Mother’s Day) with a second chance to soak up the uplifting tune on the following Sunday, May 17, both at 7:00 pm, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.

      By News Desk

Part of the choir’s 40th anniversary season offerings, the program spotlights the exceptional artistry of some 400 choristers from six of LACC’s celebrated ensembles performing timeless classics and modern works that have shaped the Chorus’ history over the past four decades.

The May 10th program features LACC’s Apprentice Choir, Intermediate Choir, and Chorale. Performing on May 17th are LACC’s Concert Choir, Young Men’s Ensemble, and Chamber Singers.

Highlights include music from Bach, Verdi, Rachmaninoff, Allister MacGillivray, Handel, and Schubert, as well as folk tunes from across the globe, and more.

LACC Artistic Director Malvar-Ruiz conducts the Chamber Singers, Chorale, and Concert Choir. Fred Meads leads the Intermediate Choir. Eric Lifland conducts the Apprentice Choir and the Young Men’s Ensemble, which provides an opportunity for boys with changing voices to continue to sing through the vocal transition.

      LACC History

Los Angeles Children’s Chorus was formed in 1986, with just 50 young singers who were recruited for a local performance with the William Hall Chorale of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, a moving anti-war manifesto that prominently features the ethereal sound of a children’s choir to underscore the tragic impact of war on the young. Since that fateful engagement, LACC has never looked back, growing into a cultural powerhouse. LACC is now widely recognized as one of the world’s preeminent youth choirs, lauded as “hauntingly beautiful” (Los Angeles Times), and “one of the true artistic gems of Los Angeles” (Gustavo Dudamel). The Choir annually serves more than 500 children ages 6–18 from 40+ communities across Southern California through its seven choirs and two first experience classes, First Experiences in Singing and Next Experiences in Singing. More than 30% of choir members receive scholarships.

      Season Sponsors

Los Angeles Children’s Chorus’s 2026 season is made possible, in part, by generous support from the State of California, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, City of Pasadena, Ann Peppers Foundation, Colburn Foundation, Green Foundation, Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, Pasadena Community Foundation, and Capital Group. LACC is also deeply grateful to lead patrons Helen and Peter Bing, Gerald Ducot, and the hundreds of other individuals, foundations, corporations, and governmental agencies whose support makes possible the Chorus’s music education and performance programs.

For tickets ($15-$52.80) and information, please visit www.lachildrenschorus.org or call (626) 793-4231.
