Hummingbird (Photo – Roy Dunn)
Our series of Artist Talks for Living in a Wildlife Corridor begins on Sunday, July 16th with renowned photographer Roy Dunn!
Roy likes to capture and expose the hidden world. Originally an electronic engineer, he started his own business developing high-speed photographic flash systems, and in 2006 he retired to pursue his lifelong passion of photography. He’s renowned for his video and fine art “essence” portraiture of humans and non-humans alike. For years he specialized in photographs of hummingbirds in flight, captured using high-speed flash techniques and equipment he developed himself. Roy now focuses his efforts on the conservation of mountain lions.
Roy will be discussing his photographs in the exhibit, as well as his thoughts on how wildlife photography relates to the medium as a whole, and what photographic challenges are motivating his most recent work.
> This event will be held in Descanso Gardens’ Boddy House Courtyard and is free with admission to Descanso Gardens. Registration is requested, but not required. To register, click here.
