Tampopo, directed by Itami Juzo, tells the tale of a truck driver who stops at a small family-run noodle shop and decides to help its fledgling business. The main narrative is interspersed with various – often hilarious – vignettes about the relationship of love, sex and food. This “Noodle Western” was described by the Washington Post as “perhaps the funniest movie about the connection between food and sex ever made.”
