“Visualizing the Future” means even more if you’ve ever wondered whether you’ll have one. The Homeboy Art Academy’s new exhibition uses this title to explore meaning for formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated youth and young adults, and North Figueroa Bookshop is inviting the public on Saturday, May 9, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, to explore those visions.

Featuring works in the mediums of photography, cyanotype and graphic arts, Homeboy Art Academy students from the ages of 18-25 confront the theory of future, while addressing the concepts of identity, emotion, culture and community. All works will be presented in the gallery space of the iconic independent bookstore, North Figueroa Bookshop, in Highland Park.

The exhibition opens on Saturday May 9th , 2026, and will be kicked off with a reception that evening, featuring sips and bites, in addition to live music provided by Music Heals, part of the Youth Music Foundation.

Homeboy Art Academy provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated youth and young adults, by securing a space in which the Arts can be the central modality to healing and transformation.
