If high summer temps keep you off the trails, this Saturday morning might be your perfect day out for this Active SGV hike along the Gabrielino Trail.

Current weather predictions for 8:00 am this Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, are for a 30% chance of rain and 54F. That’s the time that the Active SGV (San Gabriel Valley) hikers will be gathering at the Gabrielino Lower Parking lot, Explorer Road, Pasadena.

Part of the group’s Rivers & Mountains Explorer Series, the hike requires a reservation, which you can make here via Eventbrite. The hike along this part of the beautiful Gabrielino Trail will include learning about successful expansion of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and other efforts to protect and improve access to public lands for future generations.

The hike is approximately 7.5 – miles out-and-back. (The entire trail runs 28.8 miles.) It’s a moderately challenging route that includes several water crossings. Due to the length, this hike is not recommended for anyone under 12. You can bring your dog, but they must be leashed at all times.

      Snacks will be provided.

Pre-registration is required for all participants. If you are attending with other family members, each person must be registered separately to attend. Email questions to topher@activesgv.org.
