Pastor Johnson of “Pastors for Texas Children” will speak with PUSD community.

Pastor Charles Foster Johnson, Director of Pastors For Texas Children, will be interviewed virtually by School Board Trustee Jennifer Hall Lee as part of the Superintendent’s Enrollment Committee.

Board of Education member Hall Lee is leading Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD)’s Superintendent’s Enrollment Committee, which was convened to recommend strategies for retaining and recruiting students to attend public schools.  The committee is part of the larger effort to develop a five-year Strategic Plan for the district. Deputy Superintendent Elizabeth Blanco, Ed.D., said, “We look forward to this important conversation with Pastor Johnson as PUSD engages with our community to define a road map to the future of children in our schools.”

Pastors for Texas Children was created in 2013 and they believe in and advocate for public education. “We are an independent ministry, not beholden to any special interest group, political party, or church office.”

      Jennifer Hall Lee said:

I first met Pastor Johnson at the 2017 Network for Public Education conference in Oakland. His knowledge of how to encourage public school participation and his insight into the political attacks on public education were inspiring to me. I am honored to interview him!

      Pastor Charles Foster Johnson said:

Universal education for all children, provided by the entire public community, is the foundation of American democracy. People of faith from all traditions should support it as a key component of God’s Common Good.

The zoom interview takes place on November 2 at 6:30 pm.  Johnson’s nonprofit has chapters across the nation. Religious leaders are encouraged to attend.

This is a free virtual event.
