The historic Sierra Madre Playhouse celebrates the vibrant spirit of Spain with a presentation of Spanish classical and flamenco music and dance featuring Ecos de España on Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m.
Dancer Susana Elena presents a lighthearted flamenco “Garrotin,” performed with a Spanish Cordobés hat. Incorporating passion, elegance and power, Spanish classical dancer Albertossy Espinoza performs “Paso Doble,” the dance of the bullfight. Classical guitarist Almer Imamovic plays a selection of the timeless compositions created for the Spanish guitar. Renowned international flamenco guitar and dance duo, Paco and Yolanda Arroyo, celebrate Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca with a heartrending, original choreography performed to his poem, “Nana del Caballo Grande.”
Get Up and Dance!
During the course of the performance audience participation is included, especially for children. Afterwards everyone is welcomed onstage to meet the artists, take an introductory Spanish castanet class, learn basic dance steps and become better acquainted with classical and flamenco guitar technique.
Ecos de España provides audiences of all ages the opportunity to learn about and appreciate Hispanic performing arts with multicultural roots that extend far beyond the Americas.
Olé! Viva la fiesta!
Tickets: $25 available online or via Sierra Madre Box office: (626) 355-4318. The Playhouse is located at 87 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024
