October is Pasadena’s Walktober Month — a time when residents are encouraged to get out of their cars and enjoy the street views as their mobility best allows. The slate of events is long, and many fill up. This Saturday, October 3, 9:00 – 11:00 am, features a walk from Robinson Park with an environmental lens, and it doesn’t require a reservation (although it’s not a bad idea).
The Neighborhood Walk and Roll aims to help make Pasadena a healthier place to live. This event is for all ages and abilities.
For this specific excursion, the City hosts are focusing on how our neighborhoods impact our daily health. The walk will explore ways to improve physical and active living, safer and greener streets, and overall cleaner air.
As part of preparing for the City’s first Environmental Justice Element, participants will be encouraged to spot things in the environment that affect our health, especially as we all adapt to climate change impacts like hotter summer days and unpredictable weather. They will be centerting the core pillars of environmental justice:
- Cleaner air and less pollution exposure
- Healthy, affordable food choices right down the street
- Safer and greener streets for active living, walking, and biking
- Safe, healthy, and affordable housing for everyone
- Better access to public spaces like parks and libraries
You can read more about the walk and sign-up (recommended, not required) on the Eventbrite site. Robinson Park is located at1081 North Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena 91103.
