Charles White Park will take an important step toward restoration on Saturday, October 3, with a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the park’s future following damage sustained in the Eaton Fire.
The community is invited to attend the event from 10:00 am to noon at 77 Mountain View Street in Altadena. The morning will include an opening program, a ceremonial tree planting, refreshments, and a Kids’ Art Corner.
Special guests will include Supervisor Kathryn Barger; representatives from L.A. County Parks, the Los Angeles County Parks Foundation, and Disney; and Ian White. The Walt Disney Company provided significant recovery funding to support the park’s restoration.
Attendees will also receive a preview of plans to rejuvenate and enhance the park, including features that honor the legacy of African American artist Charles White. Planned improvements include an inclusive playground, a splash pad, pickleball courts, walking paths, outdoor fitness equipment, a new community building, and local artwork.
